Welcome to Romeo's Food Lady! This blog mainly contains recipes for delicious vegetarian food. Most of these are not MY recipes, just a compilation of great veggie food I've found from all over the place, sometimes tweaked to my taste. It's intended to be a reference you can consult again and again rather than a daily inspiration. After more than 25 years of being a vegetarian, I know what tastes good. In addition to recipes, you may occasionally have to tolerate musings and rants as well. Romeo's Food Lady is named after my friend and cat, Romeo. Romeo is not a vegetarian, but his Food Lady is. Italian Bread Pizza

Last night I made the easiest, most delicious dinner, and I must share it with you.  Dang me for not taking a photo - again!  I only think of it right after I've enjoyed the last bite of a delicious meal when I'm thinking, "I have to post this idea."  Ah, well.  What I did is turn a loaf of Italian bread into pizza.  Here's how:

1 loaf Italian bread
your favorite spaghetti or pizza sauce (I used Full Circle organic tomato sauce with portabello mushrooms.)
6 oz. organic mozarella cheese, shredded
fresh oregano and/or basil leaves, optional

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F.  Slice the loaf of Italian bread in half lengthwise.  Spread the cut side of each half with the tomato sauce of your choice.  Layer on fresh herbs, if using.  Cover each loaf half with 3 oz. organic mozarella cheese.

Put the halves side by side on a baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees F until the cheese is nice and melty.  Turn the oven to broiler and broil until the cheese is browned to your liking.  Done!

I served the pizzas with a salad (fresh from my garden!) and a glass of red wine.  It was satisfyingly easy and satisfyingly delicious!
